So this story came out yesterday from Pittsburgh Pirates spring training and, from my perspective, is more a statement about how incredibly quick the dad was in saving his son from a world of hurt than anything else.

Then, I read this article attacking the boy for having his nose in his phone. Chris Matyszczyk writes a decent, snarky column but blaming a boy for almost getting beaned with a bat is a bit much.
Not many people can successfully keep a kid’s attention for a few innings, let alone a game. He was sending a photo of his first ever baseball game to his mom. Hardly a sad statement on the upbringing of this child.
Leave the kid alone.
