Advertising on Facebook Offers Affordable Placement for Local Business

Advertising on Facebook still seems to be a foreign concept to many local business owners. Personally, I think that it’s because of Facebook’s perception as a time waster.

Parents, business owners, and sometimes significant others, try to keep people on task and minimize Facebook time-sucks.

The time we spend peeling others away from Facebook is exactly why your advertising should be there. Go where the people are! Need proof? Here:

  • As of July 2016, their monthly active users have increased 15% to 1.71 billion.  (Source: Facebook)
  • Daily active users have increased 17% to 1.13 billion.
  • One in five page views in the United States occurs on Facebook. (Source: Infodocket 2012)

People are living their lives on Facebook. They are engaging their friends and family there. Getting recommendations. Obtaining their news. The local business with a good marketing campaign is going to do well on Facebook.

Stop Focusing on Likes, Start Focusing on Advertising on Facebook

“Like” pages are losing impressions as Facebook optimizes users’ feeds away from businesses. Facebook says this is to ensure that people see what is most engaging to them. A pleasant side-effect of that move is that in order for local businesses to get in front of people on Facebook, they need to pay to play.

While it now costs money to be visible on Facebook, the beauty of advertising on Facebook is the large amount of data that they have amassed about their users. The demographic, interest, and behavioral targeting is almost scary. As a business, you can be in front of exactly who you want to target by using that data. Best of all, it’s still incredibly affordable.
